Rural Development & Environment

Our Vision

To eradicate poverty and improve the quality life of Rural India and Tribals through sustainable methods by suitable systems and standard practices which can be replicable and scalable.

Adoption of Elderly People

Gramothan Foundation has completed the construction of innumerous homes for the elderly and orphans under the umbrella of Government and self-help programmes, thereby enabling them to live their lives with dignity. Over the years, the Foundation has supported a large number of elderly people and orphans with food, shelter, healthcare, hygiene and sanitation.

Sahaya Kendra

Gramothan Foundation started the concept of the ‘Sahaya Kendra’ to build awareness among the people of the DB Kuppe Grama Panchayat about the Government schemes for which they could be eligible. This includes schemes like widow pension, Aadhaar card registration, old-age pension, ration card, voter id card, Manasvini pension, death benefits, health card, subsidised gas cylinders, etc. It also assists them in registration and follow-up for receipt of the benefits of these schemes.

Water and Solar Lights

The villages of DB Kuppe Grama Panchayat did not have access to a regular source of water. In addition, the lack of lighting in common areas made them the target of attacks by wild animals, given their location in close proximity to the Rajiv Gandhi National Park, On the request of the villagers, Gramothan Foundation provided water tanks with pipeline infrastructure as well as solar street lights.

Enabling Poultry and Goat Farming

For the last four years, Gramothan Foundation has successfully run the Souharda Bank. This Bankhas helped the people of DB Kuppe Grama Panchayat to become entrepreneurs by setting up cattle farms, opening petty shops and barber shops, goat rearing, etc..

Sports for youth

Gramothan Foundation believes that sports is an important facet of the development of youth. Opportunities for sports and cultural activities are created in the villages. The Foundation supported a young girl who had tremendous talent in cricket but was financially constrained to continue playing. The girl went on to represent Karnataka in the under-19 state team. As part of the celebration of festivals, the Foundation conducts sports camps at DB Kuppe Grama Panchayat, where people participate in Kho-Kho, Rangoli, Tug of War, Kabaddi, Volleyball andCricket competitions.

Youth Empowerment

Gramothan Foundation has supported unemployed youth and school dropouts by helping them develop a skill that would enable a livelihood. These opportunities include four-wheeler driving, electrical and plumbing under the skill development programme in Mysore and HD Kote.
